Solid White Oak planks in a Classic Cape Cod Style Home
Courtney Glantz, a homeowner and lifestyle blogger, worked with the Carlisle team at their Chicago showroom to tackle a major kitchen remodel and addition for her traditional Cape Cod-style home in North Barrington. The home, while beautiful, was having some growing pains, and the family needed a little more space. Courtney’s eye for design and detail provided the inspiration for the décor within this new, improved footprint – including Carlisle White Oak flooring.
The wide planks and light-toned finish were a perfect match for the style of the home and the family’s daily life. “My toddler and I still love walking around and picking our favorite planks,” Courtney shared. “Each one has its own unique, handcrafted character.”
The main goal of the project was to expand the kitchen and family room areas, creating a more functional living space. Along the way, the family decided to install new solid wide plank flooring throughout the first floor for a cohesive and polished look.
When choosing the flooring, Courtney wanted something that honored the Cape Cod exterior while maintaining a timeless feel with a touch of farmhouse charm. Her advice for other homeowners who love design? “Stick to the character of your home and your family. When you do that, you can’t go wrong.”
